Robyn and Kerry’s Destination Wedding at the Morikami

Neither the bride nor the groom are originally from South Florida, but that’s where they decided to celebrate their big day nonetheless! The Morikami was a logical place for the event, as Robyn used to visit the Morikami every year while visiting grandparents in Florida and Kerry’s favorite room in the Philadelphia Museum of Art is the Japanese Ceremonial Tea Garden. Currently living near Savannah, Georgia, Robyn and Kerry were thrilled to invite their family and guests to this magical place that had so much meaning to them. Robyn and Kerry also have a lot of family members in South Florida, so the Morikami seemed the most perfect choice.

The theme for their destination wedding was, not surprisingly, a Japanese/Asian fusion theme. The floral arrangements were created by Daniel Events and the Morikami’s own caterer, Cornell Catering prepared the cuisine for the affair.

As have many of our clients (including ourselves), Robyn and Kerry met online through JDATE and Facebook. As a South Florida wedding photographer, I meet many clients who have met through similar avenues. It seems that more and more brides and grooms are finding their soulmates online – it’s totally revolutionized dating! Robyn and Kerry’s jobs are interesting as well. Kerry works in student affairs at the local university and Robyn is a teacher for the deaf and hard of hearing as well as a seasonal worker at Walt Disney World. She is very good “friends” with the characters there!

I always enjoy Morikami weddings, but Robyn and Kerry’s was really a blast! Thanks to Robyn and Kerry for having me there to capture their special day.
